Many times we tend to contaminate food item that we purchase at a store, without being aware of the fact. This can be harmful. While buying canned packaged food, or raw meat etc from the market, here are some things you must remember to ensure that your food is safe and your family is not into any kind of health risk.
- While picking up the packed and canned foods, ensure that there is no crack in the can/ jar. A crack means that harmful bacteria maybe growing inside.
- Check for the expiry date for every item you purchase.
- While buying eggs, buy those that were refrigerated in the store.
- Never buy frozen seafood if the packages are opened.
- Raw meat or seafood should be kept separately in the cart.
- While buying shrimps, meat, fish, or salad – check for cleanliness in the store.
- Buy shellfish only from stores that have supplies from a state-approved source.
- Put items like frozen foods, milk, and other perishables into the shopping cart at last.
