Today I decided to do a research on the various forms of Massage therapy and their benefits. Wow! I was impressed to find so many different techniques by which one can stress-out and lessen even the chronic body pains. Here are some of the popular types of massage therapies:

Sweedish Massage Therapy- This is the most popular of the different type of massage therapies. It is unique in its own way because it involves the use of forearms, hands, or elbows to work-upon the superficial layers of the muscles. Sweedish Massage helps to improve the mental and physical health. The health benefits of Swedish massage include:

  • Mental and physical relaxation
  • Reduced stress and muscle tension
  • Increased rate of blood circulation

Neuromuscular Massage Therapy – This type of message therapy works well for individuals who suffer from distortion and biomechanical dysfunction. This is often a indication of a serious problem.  This massage helps in locating and releasing the spasms and hyper contraction in the tissue. Its benefits include:

  • It kills the trigger points, which cause referred pain
  • It rebuilds the strength of injured tissues
  • It restores postural alignment
  • It lends flexibility to the body tissues

Sports Massage Therapy – This is yet another massage therapy which helps to ease inflammation and prevent injuries. This massage is designed in away to help avert injuries, improve endurance, promote flexibility, and remove fatigue in a sports person.

Pregnancy Massage Therapy - This is the prenatal use of massage therapy, which supports the structural, physiologic, and emotional health of both mother and baby.  The Oriental-based therapies must be applied throughout the pregnancy and also at time of labor and the post partum period.

Deep Tissue Massage Therapy – It emphasizes on the discharge of chronic tension and body pain. The massage therapist while doing a deep tissue massage, applies tender steady strokes, and deep finger, palm, elbow, and forearm pressure on the areas of tension/ pain in the body.

Clinical Massage Therapy - It goes hand in hand with chiropractic adjustment. The massage therapist performs on soft tissues and this helps reduce the muscle strain. The Clinical Massage is great for individuals suffering from injuries or any kind of chronic pain.

Keep healthy and stay beautiful!Smile
